2022 FALL LAB Series

Relaxed Leadership (for parents of kids ages 3-10)

Announcing Polly’s brand new in-person parent school series for Fall/Winter 2022! All parents welcome.

Starting on Sept. 7, this every-other-week series will deliver turn-by-turn instructions on how to stay in charge and stay grounded while learning to become a relaxed leader. Polly will demonstrate a fresh approach to leading without hovering, bribing, threatening or blowing your top.

Polly’s LAB (Language. Attachment. Boundaries) Method helps each parent anchor themselves to critically important attachment science and boundary setting principles with a focus on cultivating a healthy hierarchy at home to truly change how daily life feels from waking all the way through the night with kids. (yes, there is a world where you don’t feel like you are working for your kid).

  • From maintaining a healthy hierarchy and building a secure attachment, all the way to setting boundaries and holding them, this series will help you and your kid settle into a longterm flow together (rather than a perpetual tug-of-war).

  • Language: Learning the art and magic of using language that inspires your kid to want to follow you. You will learn when to talk, when to be quiet & what to say to help your kid recover from overwhelming waves of emotion.

  • Limit setting: How many treats should they have in a day? How much sleep do they really need? How much (if any) time on a screen is okay? How do I make them eat? In this class we will take time to get clear about the limits you want to set and the ones that aren’t worth fighting for.

  • Relaxed leadership: Imagine being able to let go of bribing, baiting, yelling and threatening your kid to get them to listen and follow your lead. Imagine if you had tools to keep your cool while in a stand off with your kid. Every single class will light a fresh path to finding your cool when you’ve lost it.

  • Shaping over shaming: If you came from a critical environment, have a critical inner voice, or a perfectionistic side to you, you (like Polly) can learn how to positively shape a child instead of critically shaming them into learning. (Shaping is what we do when we catch someone getting things right. Shaming is what we do when we are catching and pointing out mistakes.)

Autonomy: The antidote to an anxious child. You will learn how to stop over-functioning so your kid can be become competent and confident and secure in themself.

For the science-minded parents among us, Polly loves to help parents connect to why it might make sense to parent a little today and re-write some of our parent programming leaning on behavioral science, attachment science and relational science. She teaches parents how to play the long game of shaping honest, courageous, hearty people with honorable character.

Each simple, yet profoundly effective practice concentrates on becoming a relaxed, emotionally safe leader, while offering a comforting reminder — This is all supposed to be happening. Nothing is wrong with your kid and nothing is wrong with you.
